Initial Consultation

This is where we spend some time getting to know each other. You will be asked several relevant questions to gain a scope of the design project. We will survey what furnishings are existing, photograph the space, and spend time discussing the budget and timeline. 

We will establish an understanding of what you would like to achieve though the design process and begin to execute the next phase. 

Design Development

Now the excitement begins. We will develop space plans, furniture plans, and color palettes, as well as select interior finishes such as paint, wall coverings, window and ceiling treatments, moldings, cabinetry and countertops. Depending on your preference and budget we will be sourcing furnishings across the design market which includes, custom, to-the-trade, and/or retail. 

Payal Desai Designs will develop conceptual design concepts which are reviewed with the clients and revised upon request

Implementation

Purchasing is done through Payal Desai Designs, alternatively if purchasing through retail the client has the option to purchase on their own. The client will be provided with detailed information to all products.  

Installation

This is where the design comes to life. Payal Desai Designs oversees and inspects furniture deliveries and placements. The coordination of installation of specialty items such as wallpaper, window treatments, light fixtures, or custom millwork will also be supervised by Payal Desai Designs. Being involved in the installation process provides us the opportunity to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. 

Project Completion

As the design process is coming to an end we will finish off with the details. The design is not complete without the final detail touches.  Once we add in the books, art, and objects it will provide you with a comfortable and complete design.  We will survey and incorporate your pieces as well as source additional accessories from various sources. We will come in after the final installation is complete and style the space to give you a complete design. We will do a final walk-though with you and prepare a list of any remaining small items that need attention. We will also go over the care and maintenance of all your new finishes, furnishing and equipment so they will be enjoyed for many years to come while maintaining the appearance.

Design Fee

The design fee is compensated by an hourly structure. Once we meet and review the scope of work we can develop a design packet with a flat fee if this better suits the design project.
